Positive Parents @ WASC

When coaches, swimmers and swimming parents work well together, incredible things are possible.

The team here at WASC is committed and focused on helping each and every swimmer realise their full potential. The most important thing you can do as the parent of a swimmer is to love and support your swimmer, both in and out of the pool. This support is a key factor in fostering enjoyment and learning as well as contributing to the swimmer's individual success in the pool.

One of the things that can cause difficulty for sporting children, is when they feel that their parents’ love is conditional on their sporting success. For most it might sound ridiculous that this could happen, but it does.

Please take five minutes to read the Swim England 'Top Ten Dos & Don'ts' on this very subject >>

My Magic Sports Kit
NSPCC | CPSU

This video shows several children involved in different sports describing how the behaviour of parents/spectators deteriorates when they wear their 'magic sports kit' -- i.e. when they compete. They talk about a range of bad adult behaviours and how these negatively impact on them. They then describe and promote positive behaviour.
